College Selection and Identification
Choosing a college is overwhelming because there are too many options and just as many opinions, and most families do not have a clear process for narrowing them down.
Students and parents can easily get pulled into prestige, rankings, or what friends are doing, without a clear way to judge what is best for the student long term. For student-athletes, it can get even more complicated when recruiting is part of the picture and timelines start to add pressure.
I help student-athletes identify and narrow down colleges by combining practical research with personalized coaching to find the right place where they’ll thrive academically, socially, and personally.
If athletics is a factor, it should strengthen the experience but not be the driving factor, which can create stress or limit long-term options. My goal is to build a list with logic and realism, then make the final decision with confidence.
Student profile and goal clarity: We gather the full picture including grades, courses, test scores, sports background, interests, potential majors, extracurriculars, and long-term goals.
Constraints and priorities: We identify preferences with location, campus feel, size, budget, admissions selectivity, academic strengths, and family preferences. We rank the most important criteria, so the search stays focused.
Curated school list (reach, target, safety): We research and build a tailored list of strong matches, then refine it into a clear short list based on academics, majors, athletic fit, campus culture, support systems, and realistic admissions odds.
Recruiting alignment (if applicable): We think about athletic opportunity, level of play, roster needs, coach communication, and what makes a school a real recruiting fit.
Admissions game plan: We discuss what to do now to strengthen the application and the student’s overall profile. This includes choosing the right courses, grades to maintain, test scores, activities, leadership, service, and how to show a compelling story.
Success planning beyond acceptance: We review the habits and choices that drive success in college such as time management, self-advocacy, relationships with professors and coaches, and building healthy relationships.
Final decision support: We provide practical guidance on choosing the best overall fit for development, confidence, and long-term success.
